Saline school board trustee resigns
Saline Area Schools Board of Education Trustee Amy Cattell has resigned, effective Monday, according to a report in the Saline Post.
From SalineSchools.org
Karen Delhey and Diane Friese will be sworn in to serve on the Saline Board of Education Tuesday at the board’s first regular meeting of the new year. Until then, the board technically has just four members.
Former board President Lisa Slawson and Vice President Chuck Lesch’s terms expired in November. Neither Lesch nor Slawson sought re-election.
Delhey and Friese ran for their seats and won in November. They will take office Tuesday after being sworn in.
Cattell’s term was set to end on Dec. 31, 2014.

Leaving now is just as disruptive as leaving in June. There is more to the story, however I'm sure everyone tried their best. Being on this board must be the most challenging and rewardless post. Every parent thinks they know better, and to have to try to represent the community and make fiscal, policy, and directive decisions in education is something that is not an easy task. This is a job where you will probably make 50% of the people unhappy with every decision, and that is not a fun or rewarding effort. Thanks Amy for the time served - all of the members have my thanks even if I disagree with their decisions I recognize the challenge and stress one must endure in this post.

There is obviously more to Ms. Cattell's resignation. She deserves praise for her past service, but quitting before finishing out a commitment is just an extremely bad example for the students.
