Ann Arbor police are looking for a man who robbed a Check ‘n Go on West Stadium Boulevard Friday afternoon after passing a note to a clerk.

Ann Arbor police Detective William Stanford said police responded at 1 p.m. Friday to the store at 1912 W. Stadium Blvd. after being notified of the robbery. Stanford said the man entered the store and passed a note to a clerk behind the counter.

No weapon was seen on the man but Stanford said the note implied he had one.

“He was given the money and he demanded the clerks all turn away and forced them to lay on the floor,” he said. “He then fled the store.”

The man left the store on foot. Stanford said there were several witnesses to the robbery but investigators were unable to locate the man.

He’s described as black, 6-feet-2 inches tall, between 180 and 190 pounds, wearing a brown coat, dress shoes, black pants, gloves, a scarf and a hood.

“He was all bundled up and it’s 50 degrees out,” Stanford said

Police are asking any member of the public who might have seen the man or witnessed the robbery to get in touch with Stanford. Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to call Stanford at 734-323-2628 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800 SPEAK UP (773-2587).

This is, without a doubt, the absolutely worst caught-on-camera shot I have ever seen posted by the mainstream media....

I'm surprised to see that the cashiers aren't behind some kind of glass and don't they have some kind of alarm button to push to alert the police?

One robber robbing another. What goes around comes around as far as the karmic justice of this robbery.

Check and Go provides a service. People should go to the bank that the check was drawn on to escape the fee's. Why would anyone go here?

I thought that particular Check-n-Go was robbed one evening last year, or the year before.

Cops should check the liquor store next store and see if somebody matching the description made any rather large purchases shortly thereafter.

What the robber did to Check N Go, is what Check N GO does to everyone else.

You don't have to apologize, Abe. The robber BROKE the law to steal money, Check N Go USES the law to steal money.

I was using tongue in cheek, because those kind of places have high fees for most services. Lighten up....

How ignorant do you sound!? Check N Go doesn't force people to walk in their door and loan and use there services. Those people go willingly and use their services. That does not make it okay for someone to rob a business and put innocent people in harm.

...so this is OK? Are you advocating that armed robbery is OK? I'm quite shocked that AA.com allowed this. Actually, not.

If people were just...I don't know.....'more careful' overall, this world would be near perfect. Food for thought!!

Check N Go actually breaks the law? If people were more careful with their money, they could actually open an account at a real bank. Wouldn't have a need for these places then. Food for thought!

It took me a few looks to get it, but it appears the man's head is ducked in this photo and he's looking toward the ground.

Agreed there appears to be a glitch above his head in the photo, maybe i'm seeing things wrong but it looks like he has a ski mask on. Either way, what stood out the most is the fact that he was wearing dress shoes...
