$1B milestone: Domino's Pizza offering 50 percent discount for online orders

By Lizzy Alfs

To celebrate a company milestone, Domino’s Pizza is offering its customers a deal this week: 50 percent off pizzas ordered online.

The Ann Arbor Township-based company announced Monday that it reached $1 billion in digital sales from April 2011 to April 2012.

Online orders via its website and mobile ordering platforms account for 30 percent of total sales, the company said.

To thank its customers, pizzas ordered online at menu price June 11 through June 17 will be 50 percent off.

“We love our online customers, and have learned so much from them during the past five years about how we can continue to deliver the best online ordering experience in the industry,” said Russell Weiner, Domino’s Pizza chief marketing officer, in a release.

He added: “As technology continues to evolve, we will remain committed to offering the most convenient and efficient ways to order from Domino’s.”

The publicly held company’s online ordering system debuted in 2008, with the iPhone and Android apps both launching in the past year.

Domino's, founded in Ypsilanti in 1960 by Tom Monaghan, operated a network of 9,810 franchised and company-owned stores in the U.S. as of the first quarter of 2012.

As of March 25, the company had 14 more international stores than U.S. stores for the first time in Domino’s history.

The company was valued at $1.73 billion on Monday, based on a morning stock price of $29.81.

The Dominos iPhone app is nicely done; very user friendly and allows for order customizing.

Even if they did, this offer would still cost you 25% less than the pizza cost before the rise. Do the arithmetic.

Hey, that's my daughter. However, she no longer works at Domino's. I still love her.
